The Forum is a strange landscape of dead buildings like the skeletons of extinct dinosaurs. A visitor often attempts to reconstruct the appearance and grandeur of this once-bustling heart, but it's very difficult with the deathly still that isolates the forum from the rest of the city. It's an outdoor museum and graveyard too. Nonetheless the Forum has a silent majesty that permeates the conciousness, partly because we are aware of its past significance and this entices a reverent respect for the mighty empire and the noble concept of democratic government that the Forum embodies.
Besides the Forum, also check out other cool spots when in Rome, like St. Peter's Basilica and the Coliseum.
