Isla Mujeres > Quintana Roo > Mexico
Isla Mujeres is an island just offshore from Cancun, near the tip of the Yucatán peninsula. It's a popular day trip for tourists in Cancun. Vehicle and passenger ferries make frequent trips across the bay. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food authentic and the beaches excellent. Most everything is in walking distance and world-class shopping is right across the bay in Cancun. Isla Mujeres is an ideal tropical vacation spot. Like much of tropical Mexico the weather cools down in the fall and the best time to come is from late October to January.
But enough talk and more photos.
This picture here, with the colorful boat—it was originally about the pelicans roosting on top, but they are difficult to see. Nonetheless, the picture captures the happy-go-lucky spirit of Isla Mujeres. This was our view while we were waiting for our meal. Just off-camera a fisherman drove his boat onto the beach and presented choice fish to the restaurant. The seafood is as fresh as it gets. I've traveled all over Mexico for the last 20 years and Isla Mujeres is one of my favorite places.
Another great town is Sayulita, about an hour north of Puerto Vallarta.
