The Hoist House

Way up on the Haiku Steps is this old hoist house, built between 1942 and 1943, and probably 2400 feet above sea level. In the foreground you can see the rusted engine used to hoist a cable car with equipment and people up to the Communications Control Link (CCL) Stations at the top of Pu’u Keahiakahoe. Over the years this building has been decorated with graffiti and has lost its roof.
