Here we are on another hiking adventure. This time I actually remembered to take pictures.
Drive through Ramona on the 78. After a few miles it merges with the 79 heading towards Julian. A few more miles and look for Pine Hills Road on the right after a wide meadow. Pine Hills eventually becomes Eagle Peak Road and heads off into the in the wilderness of the Cleveland National Forest. Once the paved road ends it's a bumpy few miles on the dusty forest service road until it descends from the hills and sidles up to the river briefly before passing through a dusty open area where you can park.
There's a map down below with a marker on the location. Otherwise it can be very difficult to find.
The path that intersects the parking area heads southeasterly and crosses Cedar creek a few times before arriving at the 100-foot waterfall. You can take a trail off to the left and go up to the top of the falls.
At the top of Cedar Creek Falls is a natural infinity pool which was the best reward after the long drive and hike. The water is warm and refreshing and the view is awesome! You look right over the edge and down the falls to the pool below.
This is Dan here at the infinity pool. We brought our girlfriends and spent the day here.
You can find many sites that have great information about hikes like Cedar Creek Falls and they tell you about the terrain and trail conditions and specifically how to get there, where to park, etc. ...and that's great. Here at Daily Venture we like large, colorful photographs and hope you do too. Then you can actually see it with your own two eyeballs and decide whether to go or not.
Cedar Creek Falls
Cedar Creek trickles through miles of dusty desert hills and still manages to create a refreshing little haven. Even after the long drive from Hillcrest and alof of dry forest it was totally worth it.
