Motorcycling Telegraph Canyon Road

San Diego > California > United States

San Diego is a great place to ride all year round. Telegraph Canyon Road goes east out of Chula Vista and it's all curves after shedding civilization. Along the way it hugs the scenic Lower Otay Reservoir and winds up in the desert mountains.

How to Get There

From the 805 freeway in Chula Vista exit Telegraph Canyon Road east. The fun begins after passing all the planned communities and crossing the 125 freeway. Telegraph Canyon becomes Otay Lakes Road and eventually merges with Campo Road which goes all the way to the border with Mexico. On this excursion we turned around right at the border. Then it’s an awesome ride back to San Diego.

That's Dave on his CBR 600, and my Katana 1100. After I took that picture I saw this autumn-ripened tree amidst the evergreen palms and eucalyptus. It was such a stark contrast. Click!

Sorry, I was having too much fun riding to take more pictures...
