The Ruins of Tulum
Tulum > Quintana Roo > Mexico

We drove down the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula from the colorful Isla Mujeres and strolled through Tulum. The Mayan Kings had it pretty sweet here. The location is awesome. The King's pad overlooks the best beach and aquamarine water. Nowadays the iguanas run the place judging by the number of their occupational party. Often found clambering over vertical surfaces, the iguanas most likely appreciated the heat that the stone buildings gave off, and the relative protection of being on a wall.
Next door to this popular tourist destination is a low-key beach town. A few yummy restaurants, rentals and permananent residents round it out. The actual town of Tulum is a must-see.
